National Academies of Practice Inducts Carlos F. Salinas, DMD

The National Academies of Practice is pleased to announce the election of Carlos Salinas, DMD of Charleston, SC, as a distinguished scholar-member of the NAP. Dr. Salinas was installed at a gala membership banquet on March 26, 2011, in Arlington, Virginia, at which the National Academies of Practice inducted new members from ten healthcare professions.

The National Academies of Practice was founded in 1981 in recognition of the need for interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare. It is comprised of distinguished practitioners and scholars from all the primary health professions, now including ten disciplines: Dentistry, Nursing, Optometry, Osteopathic Medicine, Medicine, Psychology, Pediatric Medicine, Social Work, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy. Only 150 distinguished members can be elected to membership, so selection is indeed an honor. Each year, the NAP sponsors a Forum on public policy issues. This year’s meeting focused on achieving interdisciplinary care. The NAP will issue a public policy statement on this topic shortly.

For further information about nominating potential members to the NAP or about the work of the organization in interdisciplinary care and public policy, contact the NAP office atmailto:naphdg@comcast.net or visit the website at http://www.NAPractive.org.
